Welcome

Welcome! Sit down, peruse these pages, and indulge in the stories my dolls arouse within your imagination...

Once Upon A Doll began with my own love of dolls, especially hand made. My kids and I collect, play with, and love our dolls, and eventually I began to make dolls of my own. Although my dolls are based upon the principles of Waldorf doll making--natural and sustainably harvested materials (like wool stuffing and cotton interlock), hand spun and dyed wool yarns for hair, hand made doll clothes, 100% wool felt for shoes--my dolls cannot be called strictly Waldorf (more Waldorf-esque), as they have definite personalities, larger & more expressive eyes, and playful mouths. Once Upon A Doll features enchanted dolls made in the Waldorf tradition with a storybook theme for that special child in your life or the discriminating collector of handmade dolls.

Meet Siri ...a Star Wars Fan Girl Doll

Siri is a die hard fangirl...she went to the 2013 San Diego Comic Con this year, and avidly brought home a precious assortment of seven Star Wars collectibles (can you tell she likes Yoda best)?
Her collection includes: Yoda Plushie, Comic Con exclusive Yoda Art, Comic Con exclusive green and white troll doll, Yoda Voodoo Buddy keychain, 2 light saber chopsticks (the perfect size for she and one of her dolly buddies to have a mock battle), Yoda toy to snap together, and rare Mickey Mouse hand painted to look like Yoda (in his own display case)!
Siri's incredibly lush head of hair is a mix of buttery soft hand spun art yarns by Yarn Rescue and Rainbow Twist Shop!
Siri is named for a Jedi from the Star Wars comic book series...she wears an adorable upcycled shirt and skirt featuring Yoda, of course, and hand made for her by Nanerjoy. Her shoes are 100% wool felt.
Siri the Star Wars Fan Girl and all her goodies will be available this Monday at 7pm EST for the grand opening of The Enchanted Toybox! If you haven't already "liked" the page on Facebook, do so now! Her listing will be available to view Saturday and Sunday before it goes live for sale on Monday!

Siri can't WAIT to break open her lightsabers and start to play in her new home!

Meet Kaylee...a custom doll from Joss Whedon's Firefly/ Serenity

Any browncoats here? Meet Kaylee, a very special custom doll for a Serenity/Firefly fan. Here she wears her "shiny" dress that she fell in love with in the series...I've even added a handmade bone pin that says her famous words "ooh shiny" when she sees all the fineries at her first formal party.
Kaylee's abundant hair has been carefully cut as true to her own style in the series as possible, and is an abundance of hand spun art yarn in many hues of shimmering brown and a few shiny strands of pink that "pop". (Handmade yarns by Rainbow Twist Shop and Luxfish)
Here we see Kaylee in her work attire on the ship, Serenity, where she is the mechanic...also a faithful reproduction of the parasol she uses in the show's pilot when she waits in front of the ship to lure paying passengers aboard. Both of Kaylee's outfits were handmade especially for her by Molly's Playground.
Here is the original Kaylee in her beloved party dress from the TV series.
And here is a close up of her face, hair, and work overalls with flowery pink shirt that she normally wore aboard ship.

Two more ready to go dolls in process--a Star Wars Fan Girl and King Tirian (the last king of Narnia).
Warmly,
Amy

Custom Vampire Cupcake Doll

Meet a very unique little gal who loves cutesy scary things...a fun fusion of lots of pink with monster cuteness!

Her dready hot pink hair is made of a gorgeous custom art yarn by Yarn Rescue. Look at that adorable curl, right in the middle of her forehead...when this little gal is good, she is very very good...but when she is bad, she is horrid!
Her friend is a needle felted vampire cupcake made to match the vampire cupcake monster on her outfit...and she wears a Vampire Gingerbread girl bow in her hair who is about to eat a scared little gingerbread cookie...
A definite teen with a 'tude and fashion sense, this little gal is ready to rock the world of her new family!

More to come soon,
Amy
