Welcome

Welcome! Sit down, peruse these pages, and indulge in the stories my dolls arouse within your imagination...

Once Upon A Doll began with my own love of dolls, especially hand made. My kids and I collect, play with, and love our dolls, and eventually I began to make dolls of my own. Although my dolls are based upon the principles of Waldorf doll making--natural and sustainably harvested materials (like wool stuffing and cotton interlock), hand spun and dyed wool yarns for hair, hand made doll clothes, 100% wool felt for shoes--my dolls cannot be called strictly Waldorf (more Waldorf-esque), as they have definite personalities, larger & more expressive eyes, and playful mouths. Once Upon A Doll features enchanted dolls made in the Waldorf tradition with a storybook theme for that special child in your life or the discriminating collector of handmade dolls.

Meet Lady Godiva and Truffle

Meet Lady Godiva and her octopus friend, Truffle. She is a handmade doll, crafted lovingly in the Waldorf tradition. 13 inches from the top of her head to the tip of her toes, she wears an adorable dress and bloomers (featuring retired Heather Ross octopus fabric) handmade especially for her by Mollys Playground.
 She sits and stands beautifully...
Her lush, long hair is hand spun and hand dyed art yarn made especially for her by Yarn Rescue.

Lady Godiva loves chocolate, mermaids, the sea, and most especially octopi.  Perhaps that is why she loves her little needle felted friend, a quirky chocolate brown octopus named “Truffle”, so very much!

She and Truffle love to have grand adventures, and sitting by the ocean (although NOT going in—neither is meant to actually get wet) while reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Voyage of the Dawn Treader is one of their favorite things.

Lady Godiva and Truffle will be listed in my etsy shop at 7pm tonight PST. The set is $125.00 plus shipping.

Thanks so much, and have a delicious weekend!
Amy
